Privacy Policy

The Australian Privacy Principles (APP’s) as contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to Genesis Charitable Foundation (GCF) in its own capacity or as trustee of the Genesis Charitable Foundation and Genesis Life Foundation, and its Directors, employees and contractors. The APP’s set out how we should collect, use, keep secure and disclose personal information.

We do not collect personal information (meaning information or opinion about you or from which you can be identifiable such as your name, address) unless reasonably necessary for our functions and activities which are primarily around charitable and personal service.  We may sometimes collect sensitive information (including information about or which implies your race or ethnicity, religion or philosophical beliefs, political opinions, etc) if reasonably necessary for the same purpose.   We will use the information only in connection with our primary purpose or related to the primary purpose or for a legal requirement.

While under the APPs, you have the option of using not identifying yourself or using a pseudonym, given the nature of our functions and activities, if you choose this, it may become impracticable for us to deal with you.

We collect personal information in a number of ways including when we communicate or correspond with each other (by phone, emails, letters) and through the contact form on this website (including any attachments).  We will not collect sensitive information about you without your consent.

We do not disclose information to any other person or organisation (including overseas recipients) unless required in relation to the primary purpose. We do not release any information for matters such as direct marketing, and do not sell any information we hold or any mailing list.

GCF will take reasonable steps to keep all information secure and prevent information from misuse, interference and loss and also unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Electronic data, kept on our computers, is backed up regularly. Our physical files are stored in premises that are secured by locked doors, and security alarms.

We are required to take reasonable steps to ensure that the information we collect is accurate, up-to-date and complete.  We will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify information which is no longer needed by us or no longer required by law to be retained by us.  Please cooperate with us on these.

Except in circumstances permitted under the APPs, we will provide you with access to information we hold about you, within a reasonable period after a request from you.  We may charge you a fee for such access.  You may also request us to correct the information we hold about you.
